The Problems of Losing Weight and the Effectiveness of a Medical Weight Loss Program

According to the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2009–2010), 2 in 3 adults are overweight, while 1 in 3 adults are obese. Overweight or obese people who do lose weight, however, can have problems maintaining or continuing weight loss due to biological and environmental factors. Because of the difficulties of losing weight, some doctors promote medical weight loss which refers to a physician-led program. It combines diet, fitness, and both self- and physician-monitoring measures. A couple of studies promoted the role of medical weight loss in successful lifestyle changes that are essential to achieving healthy weight levels.
